Old Glory Felt Pennant

Stars & Stripes Collective x Oxford Pennant

Regular price $30.00 Sale

"Old Glory" is a nickname for the flag of the United States of America.  The original "Old Glory" was a flag owned by the 19th-century American sea captain, William Driver. He named it Old Glory because he was welcomed in many far lands and by many foreign people because of her. The flag flew for many years over his ship and then at his home in Nashvillle. Driver even had a small anchor sewn into the canton to pay homage to his years as a Master Mariner. During the Civil War when Tennessee seceded from the Union, Driver was threatened on many occasions to turn over his "Union" flag. To protect Old Glory, Driver had the flag sewn into a quilt.  His flag survived and Old Glory was the first US flag flown over the Tennessee State Capital after the war.  Made in the USA exclusively for Stars & Stripes Collective in collaboration with Oxford Pennant.
